Independence Day

Independence Day

The Fairview Township Police Department would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our service men and women who have provided us with the freedom and security we have today.  As we celebrate our freedom and independence, we would hope everyone would do so safely. That would include having a designated driver if you choose to consume alcoholic beverages. Such a simple step as not driving after you have had a few drinks can save you from potential hardships such as criminal charges, wrecking your vehicle, or even  injuring or killing someone else. Please drink responsibly.

In addition, we caution people from using illegal fireworks. While the fireworks law can be confusing, due to safety and fire concerns, basically anything that explodes or flies in the air is most likely illegal. To use those fireworks, a permit is first required from the municipality. While sparklers, sparkle fountains and similar items are legal, users are still urged to use caution as even they can cause fires or burns to an individual. If caught with illegal fireworks, the fireworks will be seized and the user can be charged and fined. We would recommend taking in the larger fireworks displays in the Harrisburg and York area instead.

Our hope is that everyone has a happy and festive, as well as safe, 4th of July holiday.
