Shortly after midnight on July 5th, 2012, police responded to a report of a fight at a residence in the 700 block of Moores Mountain Road. After police arrival, 43-yr old New Cumberland resident Cynthia Scott Bemis continued yelling and fighting with other people. Upon failing to listen to police, they attempted to restrain her. She is alleged to have then kicked an officer several times in the legs and abdomen. Bemis was arrested and placed in a police car, where she then began kicking the inside of the car. Officers ultimately put restraints on her legs to keep her from injuring herself or damaging the police car. Benis was charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Harassment. The officer did not require medical treatment.
