Thefts from vehicles

The Fairview Township Police Department has received several reports of thefts from vehicles in the Fairview Park development during the overnight hours of July 17th. Money, tools, and CD’s have been reported stolen and the thefts all appear to be from unlocked vehicles.

Thefts like these are not uncommon in residential developments and it is important to remember to keep your car locked, even if it is parked in your driveway. In almost every report that we receive, the car was unlocked and very few actually have forced entry. We would like to remind residents not to keep valuables such as large amounts of currency, gps units and other electronics, firearms, and even keys in your vehicle. If those items are in your car, please make sure they are not visible. Sometimes people are hesitant to report these incidents if the amount of loss is small, but we have no idea the crimes are occurring if they are not reported, so please call.

If you have any information on these recent thefts, or if in the future you happen to see someone suspicious in your development at night, please call police immediately.
