BELCO Credit Union Scam

Chief Jason Loper July 25, 2012 News Release, Theft Comments Off
BELCO Credit Union Scam

Fairview Township is one of many police departments who have been taking reports from people who have been receiving text messages indicating that their BELCO Community Credit Union debit card has been deactivated. They are instructed to enter their card number and PIN to reactivate the card. DO NOT respond to the text, as it is a scam, and the perpetrators will use that information to steal money from you. Both BELCO members and non-BELCO members have been receiving these text messages.

If you have received any of these messages, please go to BELCO’s website for more information by clicking here.

BELCO is working with law enforcement to try and resolve this matter. If you are a Fairview Township resident and have suffered a monetary loss, please reportĀ  it to both your banking institution and this department at 901-5267, since most credit unions and banks will require that a report be made in order to be reimbursed for any loss.
