The Fairview Township Police Department is now participating in the York County Solid Waste Authority’s medication take-back box program. York County residents who have unused or unwanted medications can stop by the Fairview Township Police Department during normal business hours and place the medications in the secure lock-box. The box is located in the lobby of the police department and is open Monday-Friday 8:00 am -4:30 pm.
Unused or unwanted prescription medications should not be kept around the house where they are accessible to children or could be stolen by thieves. It is also not recommended to place medications in the regular trash or flush them down the toilet. Accepted items include: solid or liquid prescription medications, prescription patches, prescription ointments, inhalers, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and medications for pets.
Needles, bloody or infectious waste, medications from businesses or clinics, personal care products, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, and non-prescription ointments, liquids, or lotions are not accepted.
We want to provide a safe way to dispose of these potentially drugs to make our community a safer place to live, and we are appreciative of the York County Solid Waste Authority for their assistance with this program.
