Two Citizens and One Officer Receive Awards

At the Fairview Township Board of Supervisor’s monthly meeting on January 28, 2013, two citizens and a Fairview Township Police Officer received commendations from acting Chief of Police Jason Loper.   33-yr old Colin Tezik and 25-yr old Megan Sanders were each presented with Meritorious Service Awards, and 14-year veteran Officer Tyson Baker received a Chief’s Commendation for their actions following a traffic accident.

During the night time hours on October 23rd, 2012, 4 teens were involved in an accident in the 400-block of Old York Road.  Their SUV went down an embankment and overturned in a creek.  Tezik and Sanders were driving in a vehicle in front of the SUV, and turned around to investigate. When they saw the crash, they immediately began assisting the injured.   Off-duty police officer Tyson Baker was driving on the same road with his family and arrived soon after Tezik and Sanders, and provided additional assistance.

The mother of one of the teens, Joanna Natale, also spoke at the meeting and personally expressed her thanks to the three individuals. While her son received some serious injuries from the crash, she credits them with saving his life by keeping his head out of the water so he could breathe and removing him from the vehicle.
