K-9 search at Red Land High School

On February 25th, the West Shore School District utilized specially trained police dogs from various jurisdictions in York County to conduct a surprise search of student vehicles and lockers to look for narcotics. K-9 officers Chris Martinez and his dog Tazer from the Newberry Township Police Department, William Polizzotto and his dog Petro from the Springettsbury Township Police Department, and Michael Sampere and his dog Brando from the York Area Regional Police Department participated in the search. All of the handlers and their dogs are certified through North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA).

The search resulted in the discovery of marijuana and related paraphernalia, alcohol, and tobacco products on school property. The Fairview Township Police Department investigated the items that were found and charges are pending on two students. The Fairview Township Police Department would like to thank the K-9 officers and their respective departments for their assistance in this search.
