New Cumberland man wearing SCRAM bracelet arrested for DUI and Retail Theft

On August 15, 2013 an officer with the Fairview Township Police Department was on patrol in the area of the Giant Foods at 130 Old York Road.  The officer observed a male leave the store, grab a potted plant displayed for sale and leave in his vehicle.

While following the male’s vehicle, the initiating officer requested a second officer to check inside the store to verify if the plant had been paid for.  It was discovered that the male in fact had stolen the plant.  Police then initiated a vehicle stop on the male.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 26 year old Adam Snyder of the 500 block of Brandt Avenue in New Cumberland Borough.  During the ensuing investigation, it was determined that Snyder was under the influence of a controlled substance to the degree he was incapable of safe driving.  Snyder was then placed under arrest.  It was noted that at the time of arrest, Snyder was wearing a SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet as the result of a previous DUI arrest.

Snyder was transported to the York County Booking Center where he consented to a legal test of blood.  Charges were filed against him for DUI, Retail Theft and Driving Under Suspension.  He was processed and arraigned while at the booking center and his bail was set at $2,500.  Snyder was then incarcerated at the York County Prison.
