Homeowner catches Camp Hill man Burglarizing his house

On January 13, 2014 the Fairview Township Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Lexington Place for an active burglary.  The homeowner advised that he arrived home and found an intruder in his residence.  He was holding the subject down until police could arrive.

Upon police arrival, 44 year old Robert W. Dierich of the 2900 block of Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill was taken into custody.

The homeowner advised that upon arriving at his house he observed a van in his driveway.  He entered his kitchen and heard footsteps coming from the upstairs portion of his house.  Dierich then came downstairs into the kitchen.  He tried to cover his face.  When the homeowner advised he was calling police, Dierich  rushed at him shoving and tackling the homeowner to try and get out of the house.  The homeowner was able to subdue Dierich and hold him until police arrived.  Property from the home was subsequently found in Dierich’s van.

Dierich was arrested and charged with Burglary, Robbery, Simple Assault and Theft.  He was transported to the York County Booking Center for processing and arraignment.  Arraignment was conducted by Magisterial District Judge Richard Martin.  Dierich was remanded to York County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
