Stabbing Victims Flown to Hospital

Shortly after 8:30 on January 17th, Fairview Township Police were called to a residence on Foxfire Lane, Lewisberry, for a self-inflicted stab wound. Officers arrived and found 36-yr old Candis Bradshaw with a stab wound to her chest. The officers applied clotting agents and other first aid measures until EMS arrived. A short time later, the officers discovered that Bradshaw’s 2-yr old son had two lacerations, each several inches long, on both sides of his neck. Both subjects were flown by helicopter to Hershey Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

At this time, it appears that the child’s injuries are not life-threatening. We do not know the current status of Candis’ injuries. Due to statements and evidence obtained at the scene, it appears that all of the injuries were inflicted by Candis. Police are still investigating this matter, including looking into any mental health issues that may have contributed to this incident. Criminal charges may follow after appropriate medical and psychological treatments are completed.

We are asking that residents keep this family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

1/20/13 UPDATE- The child was released from the hospital over the weekend, but Candis Bradshaw is still being treated for her injuries.
