On 1/24/14, 36-yr old Candis Bradshaw was arrested for the attempted murder of her 2-yr old son.
One week ago today, Police were called to Bradshaw’s home on Foxfire Lane in Lewisberry for a report of a self-inflicted stab wound. Upon arriving at the residence, police found Bradshaw with a stab wound to her left chest. They also discovered that her 2-yr old son had two lacerations on each side of his neck. There was a large quantity of blood found in the child’s bed and on the bed rail in his bedroom. A large kitchen knife with blood on the blade was located in the master bedroom of the home.
Bradshaw made statements to EMS personnel that she hurt her son the same time she hurt herself. During the investigation, Police were told that Bradshaw suffered from postpartum depression for which she was receiving treatment. Recently, she seemed to have become more depressed and anxious.
Bradshaw and her son were both flown to Hershey Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. The victim was released last weekend and is doing well. Bradshaw recently recovered enough from her injuries to be released from the hospital and was transferred to Philhaven mental health facility, where she was served with her arrest warrant.
Bradshaw was charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Endangering the Welfare of Children. She was arraigned before Magisterial District Justice Scott Gross, who set her bail at $200,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 6th at 2:30 pm.
