Woman arrested for Theft and Defiant Trespass at local hotel

On February 6, 2o14 the Fairview Township Police Department arrested 56 year old Sonya Rill for failure to pay for the time she was staying at a local hotel and for not leaving when she was told to.

Police responded to the Red Carpet Inn at 353 Lewisberry Road at the request of the hotel manager.  Police were advised that Rill had been staying at the Red Carpet Inn since January 7, 2014.  At that time, Rill had agreed to pay $215.00 plus tax per week.  Rill has failed to paid for any of the time she stayed at the hotel.  The manager advised he told Rill she was no longer welcome at the hotel and told her to leave.  Rill refused to leave.

Upon speaking to police, Rill acknowledged she owes the Red Carpet Inn $1,274.85 but was unable to pay.  She was given the option to either leave the hotel or be arrested.  Rill refused to leave.

Rill was charged with Theft of Services and Defiant Trespass.  She was transported to the York County Judicial Center to undergo arrest processing and to be arraigned.  Rill was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Scott Laird and released.
