The Fairview Township Police Department is now participating in the York County Solid Waste Authority’s Medication Take-Back Box program. York County residents who have unused or unwanted medications can stop by the Fairview Township Police Department during normal business hours and place the medications in the secure lock-box. The box is located in the lobby of the police department. The lobby is open Monday-Friday 8:00 am -4:30 pm.
Unused or unwanted prescription medications should not be kept around the house where they are accessible to children or could be stolen by thieves. It is also not recommended to place medications in the regular trash or flush them down the toilet.
Residents should remove their personal information from containers before depositing them in the Take Back Box.
Accepted items include: solid or liquid prescription medications, prescription patches, prescription ointments, inhalers, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and medications for pets.
The following items are not accepted: hydrogen peroxide, personal care products, thermometers, liquids, lotions non-prescription ointments, needles, bloody or infectious waste, medications from businesses or clinics.
We want to provide a safe way to dispose of these potentially drugs to make our community a safer place to live. We are appreciative of the York County Solid Waste Authority with this program.
